does anyone know if Sharons parents and sisters were at her wedding? I have never seen any pictures of them in the wedding photos that I have seen. If they weren't there any ideas why not?

Her parents and sisters didn't attend the wedding, and I've never heard anyone exactly say why they didn't.
My theory is that her father couldn't go because at that time he was still a high ranking official in army intelligence, and the army doesn't let you take a few days off, even if it is to go to your child's wedding. It was also late-January, which must have been a time when Debra and Patti were back in school. As much as I think that the two of them wanted to go, the adults decided it would be best for them to stay in class and not fall behind on their work. From what I've heard, Paul Tate was very strict when it came to his daughters doing their schoolwork.
Coupled with that, I can't really imagine Doris being social with many of Sharon and Roman's friends, especially at a place like the Playboy Club, where the reception was held. I don't think she would have had a very good time, and she wouldn't have been able to stick close to Sharon there, because Sharon was socializing with everyone staying close to Roman.
Now, if the wedding had been a Catholic ceremony in a church, I think there would have been more of an effort on the Tate's side, to attend. They were a Catholic family, and church weddings are looked at to be a pretty big deal. Instead, it was held in a registrar's office in London, and with the exception of a few people, the family didn't know any of the guests. So I think they decided that it would just be easier to let them have their wedding, and wait for them to come back to the USA the next month, in order to celebrate with them.

that all makes sense. I wonder if her father approved of Roman? I have read that her parents both liked Jay very much and they invested in his business Sebring International. Perhaps Paul felt more of a kinship with Jay as they both had military service in common.

I don't know if they necessarily 'approved' of Roman, but they did accept him and never tried to dissuade Sharon from being with him. I think that really speaks to the characters of Doris and Paul. A lot of parents would try to interfere with their daughter's love life in that kind of situation, especially since they had been used to Sharon being with Jay for over a year before Roman came into the picture. I think that they both saw that Roman really did care about Sharon and wanted the best for her. Whatever faults Roman had, he loved their daughter.
When it came to their relationship with Jay, I think they did bond with him like he was their son. His military service must have gone a long way with them too.

I agree with you in all respects I feel Ronan loved her very very much. He saidin his autobiography that loving soneone scared him because of his childhood. Everyone who was important to him that he loved was so cruelly taken from him., but that Sharon had broken down those walls. He said at one point after her death that the years he spent with her were the only time of true happiness in his life . He said the summer of 69 was bright with promise he had a job he loved a wife he loved and a baby on the way. He speaks quite eloquently of his love for Sharon and the person she was.Had she lived I really do belive they'd be together still, watching their grandchildren grow up! It was 20 years before he trusted enough to love again and now he has been married for 25 years. I think Sharon would be happy that he has found love and security again. Thats just the type of person she seemed to be. Whew! That was a long post! I get carried away sometimes.

But how do you know that the Tate’s didn’t try to dissuade Sharon from marrying Polanski? Or that they accepted him as their son in law? It’s possible that they did try to dissuade Sharon and she told them she was going through with the wedding and they didn’t get an invitation or refused the invitation. From everything I’ve read the Colonel was pretty strict. Actually I’m just playing devil’s advocate here. But it’s all possible.
