I think Sharon's family took Prudence and then Debra accidentally ran over her ten years later while backing out of the driveway. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong

Roman gave Prudence to Sharon in 1969 after the death of her dog Dr. Sapirstein (Sappy). Roman never even told her that Sappy had died, he told her that Sappy must have run away. What actually happened was that Wojciech Frykowski accidentally ran over and killed Sappy in the driveway of Roman and Sharon's house on Cielo. Sharon once famously said that Roman would lie to her, and she'd pretend to believe him. I think she knew that Sappy had died. Plus, she was living at Cielo which Wojciech and his girlfriend, Gibbie Folger--so I think the truth must have come out at some point.
Debra was able to convince her parents to let her take Prudence after Sharon died. She had also wanted to take Wojciech and Gibbie Folger's dalmation Tom, but her parents wouldn't let her. About ten years later, Debra did accidentally run over Prudence with her car.
I've always been curious how Sharon arrived at the name Prudence. Perhaps it was a nod to Mia Farrow's sister, Prudence. Either through knowing Prudence, or the Beatles' song Dear Prudence, which was written about her. Or, could it have had to do with the 1968 movie Prudence and The Pill, which had starred Deborah Kerr and David Niven. I don't know.

Probably because they were really energetic dogs that were pretty tiny, which made them hard to see in a rear view mirror, or impossible to see if they decided to hang out under the car.

To be fair, Prudence did live to be at least ten years old. The average lifespan of a yorkie is about 10-15 years, so they did good by her for a long time.
This is Debra's quote from the official Sharon site, when it comes to Prudence: "I've been told that people want to know what happened to Prudence. Ok, I'll tell you. I accidentally ran over Prudence in my parent's driveway and killed her. It was awful! I was leaving after a visit, backing out of the driveway and I didn't realize that she'd run outside. I was twenty six when this happened so it was ten years after Sharon died. So now you know --Prudence is with Sharon."

Does anyone know what happened to Sharon's other dogs? Her poodle called Love and a yorkie called Guiness? She didn't seem to have them for very long but I can't find any reference as to what happened to them. Thanks

I'm not sure about Love.
I think that Doris ended up with Guiness and that Sappy was one of Guiness' pups. It would make sense to me that Doris ended up with Guiness just because Sharon got Guiness as a present in late-1965, and by early '66 she was flying between Italy and London to make FVK, which would have made her too busy to be the human mom to a little doggie. If Sappy was a pup from Guiness, it makes more sense that Sharon would have taken him instead. Doris and Guiness would have become pretty attached, and by later '66 through the rest of her life Sharon was living in either the USA or England--so it would have made caring for a doggie easier.

Thanks Kristen, I didn't realise Sappy was one of Guinesses puppies. It definitely makes sense for Doris to have taken Guiness while Sharon was travelling and just shows how much the Tate family all loved their little dogs.
